There are lots of various ideas about why there is lots of data, but very little wisdom in the world. Here is my hierarchy…
We collect data,
Add context to get information,
Add understanding to get knowledge,
Add judgment & values to get wisdom.
The process fails most of the time in step three - most of us just don't have enough time to get to the understanding part. So knowledge is a very steep hill to climb -- let alone getting to wisdom at the top.
