Google IS the market leader - there is no one that can dispute that fact. How do you compete with them -- IMHO, you don't compete (unless you like getting the crap kicked out of you) - you either draft behind and accept their dominance or you look for market white space (areas where Google is either not interested in or do not currently dominate). Google's mission (which does not seem to have changed much - and good for them) is to organize (and present) the world's information. They seem to be accomplishing that mission and making a ton of money doing it.
