On the Road to a Cure -- making Type 1 Diabetes a historical footnote


Wanted to forward this email from my friend (Terry Wright) at BCG Clinical Trials in case you are in California and can meet the people that are on the path to cure Type 1 Diabetes. They are well on their way and moving through the process for clinical trials. Your support is important, because BIG drug companies aren't (there's no money in curing the disease, but there lots of money in maintenance of the disease). Remember, Type 1 you're born with -- it's the kids living with it that need your help...AM

Meet Dr. Faustman in Rancho Mirage, CA

Everyone is invited to a free event sponsored by the Eisenhower Medical Center and the Desert Diabetes Club.

The event is called "A Day of Hope for Diabetes®". Attendees will be able to participate in a diabetes care products fair that will showcase the latest technology and treatment for persons with diabetes as well as a keynote address by Dr. Faustman.

The event will be held on April 19th, 2008 starting at 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The keynote address will be by Dr. Faustman, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Faustman will present "New Advances in Diabetes Research" starting at 1:00 PM.

Dr. Faustman is working to cure autoimmune diseases such as Type 1 diabetes by stopping the body from attacking itself and studying how the destroyed organs re-grow.

Dr. Faustman has published more than 100 scientific papers in internationally recognized journals and her work has been highlighted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Scientific America.
