AWS Start-Up Challenge

On November 20th at the AWS Start-Up Event in Seattle, the winner of the AWS Start-Up Challenge was announced: YieldEx is the grand prize winner and receives $50,000 in cash and $50,000 in service credits. Read the press release. This event capped off an exciting final round of the contest in which seven finalists presented their businesses to judges from Amazon and venture capital firms. Amazon SimpleDB Goes Public With Lower Pricing
Amazon SimpleDB, a web service providing the core database functions of indexing and querying, is now available in public beta -- you may sign up now and start using immediately. We're also excited to announce a free tier of usage for SimpleDB, as well as lower prices for storing your data. In addition, Amazon SimpleDB customers will now have access to AWS Premium Support, providing access to a 24/7, one-on-one, fast-response support channel.

Announcing Amazon CloudFront
AWS has announced the public beta of Amazon CloudFront, a new service for content delivery. CloudFront integrates with other Amazon Web Services to give developers and businesses an easy way to distribute content to end users with low latency, high data transfer speeds, and no long-term commitments.

Amazon FPS is excited to offer Amazon Simple Pay Subscription in Sandbox. Amazon Simple Pay Subscription helps you monetize your applications by charging your customer on a recurring basis -- great for those offering digital content subscriptions, collecting membership dues on a regular basis, or even recurring donations. Learn more.

New Copy Feature for Amazon S3
The Amazon S3 Copy feature is now generally available. Copy enables efficiently copy or moving objects across buckets and regions, as well as renaming objects and updating object metadata.
